Biographical Information and the Writing Process of Herman Parish
*Herman Parish was in fourth grade when his aunt; Peggy Parish, wrote the first Amelia Bedelia book.
* After his aunt died in 1988, she would receive letters from children wondering when the next Amelia Bedelia book would come out.
*Other children authors´ also volunteered to continue writing the series, but Herman felt uneasy about not keeping Amelia Bedelia in the family.
*Herman decided then decided to write a new Amelia Bedelia adventure and his family supported him. He wanted to continue writing Amelia Bedilia books to continue family tradition. The only previous experience he has was writing advertisements.
* Herman started reading Amelia Bedelia books to figure out what made them funny. He came to find that idiomatic expressions, literal-isms, and homophones was what made them that way.
*His first book was Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia. It took him one year to gather ideas for the book, and one night to write.
*Over the course of that year, whenever he thought of expressions and homonyms he would write them down where ever he could.
